Georgia Stevens went to be with her LORD on July 31,2023. Georgia was born February 17, 1934, in Maud, Oklahoma to Alton and Lucille Parker. Her parents were pastors and fostered in her a deep love for God. During her high school years, Georgia spent her lunch hours singing Gospel music on the local radio station and her weekends traveling to churches with a Gospel quartet. Georgia graduated from McAlester High School in 1952, and later in the same year, she married Joe D. Stevens, the love of her life, on September 29th, 1952. They have enjoyed a beautiful life together for 70 years and would have celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary on September 29th of this year. After they were married, Joe and Georgia lived in California, McAlester, Iowa and St. Louis before making Oklahoma City their permanent residence. They have resided for the last 56 years in Oklahoma City. Georgia loved to travel. She visited all 50 state capitals and many parts of Canada, Mexico and Europe. Georgia participated in the Lakeside Red Hats Society. She was a member of Capitol Hill Assembly of God where she enjoyed spending time with her church family. Georgia was a beautiful person inside and out. Her amazing smile would light up the room. Georgia was a warm friendly person who never met a stranger, and no one left her presence without a hug and a kiss. Her kindness and compassion moved her to volunteer at the City Rescue Mission. Her work there was some of the happiest times of her life. Georgia was a wonderful mother and had a special relationship with each of her children. She loved and treated her daughter-in-law and sons-in-law like her own children. She passed on to her family her faith and trust in God and the importance of loving people. One of her favorite roles was being Granny. She was always available to care for her granddaughters and their friends. She created precious memories with her granddaughters that they will treasure forever. Their favorite times with Granny were sleepovers, vacations and holidays. a She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends. Georgia is preceded in death by her parents, Alton and Lucille Parker. She is survived by her husband Joe D. Stevens, daughter Rita Flora (David) Arlington, TX., daughter Connie Champlain (Scott) Edmond, OK. and son, Mark Stevens (Holli) Nichols Hills, Ok. granddaughters Dr. Amanda Champlain (Chad Oliver) Dallas, TX.,Andrea DeTrempe (Philip) Dallas, TX. and Alexandria Stevens, Nichols Hills, Ok. great-granddaughters Georgia Kate Oliver and Caroline Grace Oliver, both of Dallas, TX. brothers Bill Parker, Oklahoma City and Bob Parker (Donna) Gulf Shores, AL. sister Genevieve Brasfield, Oklahoma City. A reception will be held following the service.
