George Boardman Webb, 78, left us and his Alzheimer’s on February 10, 2011. George was born on Staten Island, NY, on July 11, 1932 and grew up in NY, Chicago, and Beecher, IL. He attended Illinois Normal (Illinois State), where he met Nancie Carnahan. They married in 1954. George graduated from the Univ. of Illinois in 1957 with an electrical engineering degree. He started with General Electric, ultimately moving to Syracuse. In 1964, GE moved his group to OKC. George worked with the same core group of people for 44 years as the company changed (GE, Honeywell, Control Data, MPI, and Seagate), working on computer system components and drives. George retired as Manager of Engineering Standards. George was an avid tennis player, an occasional golfer, and could build or fix almost anything. Before George and Nancie moved to Epworth Villa in 2006, George loved maintaining their homestead at Silver Lake. The Webbs have been members of Westminster Presbyterian Church for more than 40 years, and George served as an elder and deacon. George is survived by his wife of 56 years, Nancie, daughters Dr. Susan (& Blake, dec’d) Boyd of Lake Charles, LA, Patti (and Dr. Michael) Morris of Edmond and Betsy Windholz of Wichita, and sons Bill Webb of Tallahassee, FL and Jim (& Stacy) Webb of Yukon, along with 12 grandsons of whom he was extremely proud and a new great-granddaughter. George is also survived by his brothers, Jon (Pueblo, CO) and Jim (Minooka, IL), 3 step-grandchildren and 6 step-great-grandchildren (Lafayette, LA), and countless friends and former co-workers in OKC and elsewhere. Services 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 19 @ Westminster Presbyterian Church, 4400 N. Shartel. In lieu of flowers, George would have wanted donations made to the Westminster Presbyterian Church Deacons’ Fund, 4400 N.
