Gene lived in Oklahoma most of his life, attending school in his early years and becoming a truck driver afterward. Truck driving was Gene’s passion; he loved driving diesel trucks and it allowed him to travel across the United States. Gene would listen to his favorite classic rock music on the road, including Journey, Fleetwood Mac, and many others. He met and was in an 11 year relationship with Kristie Bentley, during which they made many great memories and shared laughs. Alongside driving, a perfect day for Gene would include camping next to the lake with a big fire surrounded by family and friends to finish out the evening. Gene loved his children, having fun, being silly as a self-proclaimed man “made of steel,” being outdoors, exploring, camping, and fishing. He also loved to scare people. Gene wants to be remembered as a great father to his children and a provider for his family.
Gene has three children, Michael McInturff, Andrew McInturff, and Cloe Smith, six brothers Justin Cantrell, Cory Cantrell, Mike Cantrell, Nick McInturff, Justin McInturff, and Larry Paxton, four sisters Shanna Chilson, Taylor McInturff, Amy Cantrell “D,” and Christine McInturff, one grandchild Oliver Smith, and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service for Gene will be held Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Bill Eisenhour Funeral Home, 8805 NE 23rd Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73141.
