Franklin Dale Moore, age 57, of Oklahoma City was called to the loving arms of Jesus on Wednesday, July 20, 2011. He was born on August 27, 1953 in Durant, Oklahoma. After graduating high school he moved to Oklahoma City where he met his wife, Joyce Brown. Franklin began working as a funeral director in 1973. He touched many lives during his career. He served as Committee Chairman of Boy Scout Troop 15 for twelve years and mentored many young men. He loved spending time with his son, to the point of learning to like baseball. Franklin loved to cook for his family and friends. He would spend hours finding a recipe and shopping for the perfect ingredients to make these wonderful meals. Franklin was a man with strength of character. He was generous to a fault and quietly blessed many people without any expectations. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, family and friends. Franklin was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Jolene Moore. He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Joyce Moore , his son, Shawn Moore, two brothers and a sister. But Franklin had “other” children as well, Ted, Peter, Kevin, Marcus, Andy, Darrell, Oscar, Molly, Crystal, and Haley just to name a few. His celebration will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 23, 2011 in the Guardian West Funeral Home chapel with interment following at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. In keeping with Franklin’s generous spirit, the family requests donations be made to Trinity Food Pantry, 1329 NW 23rd Street, Oklahoma City, OK 73106. “A man among men. To his family he was a hero. To his Savior he was a servant.” He will truly be missed.
