Eva Pauline Robertson was called to her eternal home on the evening of August 2, 2018. She was born July 28, 1936 in Pharaoh, Oklahoma to Benjamin Fred and Aulcy Mae Mangrum, who preceded her in death. Additionally, she was preceded in death by twelve siblings, grandson Steven Robertson and daughter-in-law Carolyn Robertson.
Eva was also preceded in death by her husband of forty years, Doffies Dean Robertson, her ‘darlin’, the love of her life. For the more than two decades after she lost him, Eva longed to join him in Heaven, Now, the two of them are reunited in glory for eternity.
Eva is survived by daughters, Janis Robertson of Stigler, Oklahoma, Sheri Clements, of Oklahoma City, Alice Clary of Edmond, Oklahoma, Ruth Zimmerman of Miami, Oklahoma, and husband Tom Zimmerman, Christi Hernandez of Norman, Oklahoma and husband Johnny Hernandez, sons, Edward Robertson of Atkins, Arkansas and Brett Robertson of Eufaula, Oklahoma, all formerly of Moore, Oklahoma, and grandchildren Bryon, Lisa, Amanda, Jenny, Jared, Lana, Lacey, Presley, Justina, Nathan, John, Madi, and Ashlyn, several great-grandchildren and many, many nieces and nephews who adored her.
Eva lived a rich, fulfilling life of love, laughter, and kindness. She was happy raising her children and being a wife and homemaker, but she also held a job from time to time, selling Tiara and Tupperware. She was highly successful as a saleswoman not only because she loved the products, but because she had a multitude of friends and everyone loved her so much. Eva loved her children with all her heart and soul, but when her grandchildren came along, she had a whole new group of people to shower with her unending love. And, boy, did she love them, so very much.
Eva was funny and generous with a sweet spirit that emanated from her. One of the most remarkable things about her was that she seldom complained. No matter how miserable her circumstances might get, how much pain she suffered, she always had a bright smile when her kids and grandkids visited, and always greeted them with loving praise and gratitude that they took time to come and see her. The wonderful staff at Emerald Care Nursing Center loved her and said they would never forget her and they would miss her singing. Eva loved music. When she and Dean were raising their children, their social life revolved around living room music sessions and her love for music remained an integral part of her life. Her children and grandchildren bought her a music player and loaded it with songs. Each time they went to visit her, she was listening to the music and singing along. The evening she passed, she was listening to her music and when her daughter arrived to see her, it was still playing. The CNA who discovered she’d passed said she couldn’t bear to turn it off.
Eva’s legacy is in the lives she touched, her loving family, her love of the Lord and the countless friends she left behind. Two particularly special friends, John and Thedis Pitts, remained close to Eva up to the end. Thedis regularly visited, even though Eva chastised her on more than one occasion for waking her up.
As much as Eva loved her family, she loved her Heavenly Father even more. She had a deep, special relationship with God and prayed every day. Eva frequently scribbled notes on anything she could get her hands on, from sheets of paper, to envelopes, to boxes of tissue, and Styrofoam cups. In those notes, she praised God over and over and spoke of how anxious she was to be reunited with Dean and her parents, and to walk on the streets of glory. She’s walking on those streets now, in the arms of Jesus, where she’ll feel no more sadness, no more confusion, no more pain. Those who remain on this Earth are grieving for their loss but Eva is rejoicing because she finally got her wish, she gained her Heavenly home.
