Eula, better known as Esther, moved down to Oklahoma after she married Gene Firth on May 29, 1955. Though the couple divorced in 1996, they remained close until his passing in 2015. During their relationship they had two children, Bradley and Connie Firth.
Esther graduated with her Master’s in Education and became a teacher in the Putnam City School District. She was a kind, loving person, she was tough but respected. She taught for 39 years before retiring to help care for her grandson, Victor. After retirement, she continued to volunteer at school, always there to lend a hand. Esther was a member of a Teacher’s Sorority for many years and active in the community, making lifelong friends. She was most proud of her teaching accomplishments and raising her family. Her kids and grandkids kept her laughing, she loved being surrounded by family.
Esther enjoyed Big Band, Crooners, and Country music styles and could spend the days deep inside a good book. Her favorite color was purple, a color typically associated with wisdom and compassion, both traits that describe Esther all too well.
Esther was preceded in death by son, Bradley Firth, former husband, Gene Firth, and brothers, Eugene and Chester Conner.
Esther’s legacy will continue with the love of her daughter, Connie Firth of Oklahoma City, OK, sister, Maida Anne Packard of Medicine Lodge, KS, grandchildren Michael Firth and wife Guilaine, and Victor Firth, great grandchildren, Aiden, Kara and Anna, and many nieces and nephews. She was part of a large extended family.
The Firth family would like to extend a grand thank you to Interim Hospice Care for taking such good care of Esther these past few months. She is deeply loved and missed. We are better for having her in our lives.
A memorial service for Esther will be held Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill Funeral Home, 8701 NW Expressway, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73162. Esther will be buried in Medicine Lodge later in the Spring.
