He attended Edmond Public Schools, including Clegern Elementary, Central Middle School and Edmond Memorial High School where he was a member of the marching band at Memorial, playing a variety of percussion instruments. He also attended University of Central Oklahoma for two semesters.
Ethan was a loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, friend, and brother in arms. He found love in the fall of 2021. He was a talented writer and loved to read and write poetry. Equipped with a breezy, distinctive personality, he loved good food. He relished cooking for himself, as he knew he could make the food better than anyone else. He was eclectic in his music tastes, ranging from rap, rock, classical and jazz to Frank Sinatra, whose songs he knew and sang aloud. He was an avid gamer with expensive tastes in everything he thought he needed or wanted.
Ethan enlisted in the U.S. Army in 2017, and completed basic training and advanced individual training (Infantry) at Fort Benning, Georgia. Upon graduation in May of 2018, he was stationed at Fort Wainwright, Alaska. During this time, he served 10 months and was deployed to Iraq near the Syrian border. In June of 2021, he was transferred to Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
His Army career was distinguished by the following honors:
• Army Good Conduct Medal
• National Defense Service Medal
• Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal – Campaign Stars
• Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal
• Army Service Ribbon
• Marksmanship Qualification Expert Badge with Carbine
• Army Accommodation Medal with a C Device
• Fire Team Leader at Fort Wainwright and Fort Campbell
Ethan rose through the ranks to Sergeant while at Fort Wainwright. He re-enlisted in 2020 and was looking forward to a long career in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his mother, Jane Allison Burbach, and stepfather Christopher Burbach; father Ethan Allen Walker IV; brother Andrew Joseph Walker; grandfather Ethan Allen Walker III; grandmother Nora Thurmond (Michael); grandfather Kip Walls; grandmother Mary Hicks McReynolds (James); step-brothers Colton and Caden Burbach; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends – including the Band of Brothers who loved and respected him in dangerous and ordinary situations. He is also survived by his German Shepherd Molly, whom Ethan raised and trained from a puppy.
A memorial service for Ethan will be held on Monday, January 24, 2022, at Memorial Park Funeral Home and Cemetery (original chapel on the east side of Kelley).
The family suggests that an appropriate gift in his memory would be a donation to K9s for Warriors.
