Elise Ann Whatley Thompson (83) died Saturday, February 16, 2013. She was born April 11, 1929, in Ada, Oklahoma to Gertrude and William J. Whatley. The family later moved to Oklahoma City, where Ann attended Hawthorne Elementary, Taft Jr. High and Classen High School, graduating in 1947. She attended Oklahoma City University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in English and the University of Missouri where she earned her master’s in Library Science.
Ann and Philip A. Thompson were married December 19, 1950 in Oklahoma City and reared three daughters. During their marriage they lived in Deerfield, IL, St. Louis, MO and Dallas, TX, returning to Oklahoma City in 1975.
Ann was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and by a grandson, Sean Brown.
Ann is survived by daughters Elizabeth Sendewicz of Wayne, NJ, Helen Brown of Oklahoma City and Letitia Smith of Carrollton, TX. Also by her grandchildren and their families; Ken & Mandi Brown and their children, Blake, Tye & Cutter, Broken Arrow, OK; Shannon Brown and children Connor & Alston, Broken Arrow OK; Katie & Ronnie Williams and son Reese, Carrollton, TX; Anna & Michael Leon and daughter London, Dallas, TX; Matt & Emily Brown and their sons, Tazon and Blayne, Bethany, OK and Rebecca Sendewicz, Wayne, NJ.
Also surviving are sisters-in-law Margaret Benton Thompson, Oklahoma City, OK, and Patricia Murrell Thompson Fabry, Cookson, OK, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Ann worked as a Social Worker for the Oklahoma State Department of Human Services, retiring after 29 years of service.
