Edna Marie Lowther was born on Nov. 26, 1930 in Inola, OK to Lem and Mary Irene (Beeler) Lowther. She was raised and attended school in Inola and Claremore, OK. She was the first girl born to her parents, so she spent much of her younger years helping her mom raising the other children and working in her parent’s diner in Claremore. Following her schooling, Edna moved to California for several years to experience something new. She returned to Claremore, but relocated to OKC in 1956 when she enjoyed being a homemaker and raising her children.
Edna attended services at the Baptist church in Claremore. She enjoyed swing dancing, two-stepping. She was a talented bargain shopper who never missed an opportunity to visit a local garage sale or thrift store. She was a quiet and independent woman who offered good advice. You could tell her anything and know that she would still be there for you, offering her unconditional love. Family was always her top priority. She loved sewing and stitching clothes for her kids and grandkids and she was happiest when she was surrounded by those that she loved.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son named Jimmy; and 5 siblings: Delores, Harold, Bob, Jack, and Junior. She is survived by her children: Connie Carroll and Debbie Pennington, six grandchildren: Curtis, Stacy, and Christopher Carroll, Steven Fisher, Tommy Ackerman, and Tosha Strawn; two siblings: Sharon and Melvin. She is also survived by numerous great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other beloved family members.
