Edna “Eddie” Ruth Stephens was born February 20, 1926 to Robert and Mary (Shell) Bayless in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Eddie passed on January 9, 2017 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She attended Shawnee High and had two extended careers, one with at&t the other with the Oklahoma Department of Corrections. She enjoyed watching sports especially Thunder Basket Ball Games and Golf; however Golf was not just for watching, Eddie loved playing it too. Eddie and her husband Donald were active members of the Metropolitan Baptist Church. Eddie was also a member of International women’s sorority Beta Sigma Phi. She is survived by her husband Donald, daughter Susan Kelly and husband Brian of San Antonio, TX, son Scott Stephens of Purcell, OK, sister Gail Nix and husband Harold of Shawnee, OK sister-in-law’s Dorothy Carberry and Barbara DeVries, five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, one niece, and three nephews. Eddie is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Mary Bayless, and her brother Clarence Bayless. Visitation will be from 12pm-8pm Thursday, January 12th. Funeral service will be 10am Friday, January 13th; both will be held at Chapel Hill Funeral Home.
