Earl Edward Stamper, Jr., passed away at the age of 84 years, in his home after a long battle with dementia and other health issues. Earl was born January 15, 1926 in Dawson, OK to parents Earl Edward Sr. and Hettie Mae (Faulkner) Stamper. He grew up in Dawson, graduated from Will Rogers High School in Tulsa in 1943. Earl served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Granville APA171 during WWII in the Pacific theater. He was discharged June 8, 1946 with a rating of MOMM2class. Earl married the love of his life, Marjorie, in March 1946. Earl was a successful businessman, owning and operating several different businesses through the years, his favorite being the agri-business from which he retired in 1983.
He is survived by his wife of 64+ years, Marjorie; one son, Darrell Stamper and wife Lisa of Luther; daughters, Twila and husband, Danny Roy of Luther; Margene and husband Phil Holst of CA; Denise and husband, Keith Gardner of Luther; 20 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; one brother, Gerald (Pete) Stamper and his wife Pat of Tulsa; one sister, Joan Pugh of Charlottesville, VA; brother-in-law, Guy E. Gardner of South Bend, IN; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two granddaughters, Kathryn (Katie) Stamper, and Shelly Gardner; as well as his parents-in-law; three brothers-in-law; one sister-in-law; and two nephews. Earl was a loving, caring husband, father and grandfather. We will miss him greatly, but we have confidence that we will be together again one day in Heaven.
We want to express our gratitude to Hospice of Oklahoma County and their special nurse and aide, Debbie and Karen, who faithfully and compassionately cared for Earl during his illness. A special thanks to Visiting Angels and their caregivers.
