Dr. Duane Larry Hanson

Duane was born on March 16th, 1952 in Flandreau, South Dakota. The son of Milton and Delphine Hanson, he grew up in Fairmont, Minnesota. He met his wife Linda on the shores of Fox Lake and they were married on December 19th, 1971. They moved to Chicago Illinois where he completed his Doctor of Chiropractic degree from National College of Chiropractic. His son Ryan was born there. They moved to Oklahoma to start his practice in 1975 and continued practicing up until the day before his passing for 49 years. His daughter Tiffany was born in 1978. He was an amazing father and was very active in their lives and then in his grandchildren’s lives as well.

Duane was an incredibly gifted chiropractor and had patients visit him from all over the world. He was always willing and ready to help and serve others. Loving service was truly what he lived out.He has been recognized numerous times in his profession for being successful not only in his practice but also in training and developing others. One particular young doctor he mentored went on to become his son in law.

Duane was always ready for an adventure. From scuba diving, hunting, golf, fishing, playing hockey, flying planes, or racing cars…. he was ready to go create memories and have fun.

He was very active in his community. He was an active member of AMBUCS since early in his practice, an usher at Holy Trinity Lutheran church, and even president and resident handy man for his neighborhood association. He enjoyed meeting with his local group of longtime business owners every Tuesday, monthly poker nights, and his Bible study small group, ‘The Salt Shakers’. He greeted everyone with a smile and always had a joke to tell.

Above all he loved God and made sure others knew about him as well. He never stopped giving all the credit to Him for his wonderfully blessed life.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Linda Hanson; his son Dr. Ryan Hanson and his wife April Hanson of Edmond, Oklahoma, his daughter Dr. Tiffany Labrecque & her husband Dr. Jimmy Labrecque of Colleyville, Texas; his mother, Delphine Hanson; his sisters Diane Luedtke, Sandra Luhmann, & Brenda Johnson; his brothers David Hanson, William Hanson, Thomas Hanson, & Robert Hanson; his brother in law Dr. Bruce Heng and his wife Suzanne Heng; his grandchildren and future chiropractors, Adam Hanson, Jack Hanson, Alyssa Labrecque, Lucas Labrecque & Charis Labrecque; and his sweet dog Zoe. He is preceded in death by his father, Milton Hanson; his father in law Doc Marion Heng & his wife Edna Heng.

A celebration of life service will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 308 NW 164th St, Edmond, OK 73013, on Saturday, August 3rd at 11 am with viewing from 10:00 - 10:50 AM.
