Dortha Jean Galutia, age 94, went to be with the Lord on October 5, 2020. Dortha was born November 4, 1925, in Oklahoma City, to Homer & Mabel Prall. She married the love of her life, Henry “Hank” Galutia on August 20, 1945. She and Hank were first introduced on a blind date, fell in love and were soon married. The first few years of marriage took them to Guam as Hank completed his military service in the Navy. They spent the remainder of their married life making their home in Oklahoma City. They built a great life together filled with love and laughter that spanned 52 years before he preceded her in death in 1997. Dortha and Hank had two children Robert and Susan. A devoted wife, loving mother, adored grandmother and cherished great grandmother. Her gentle, unassuming spirit and generous heart were her trademark that she paired with an easy laugh and hilarious wit. Everyone who came into her home felt welcomed and loved. She treasured her family and never missed sending a grandchild or great grandchild a special birthday gift or card.
Dortha enjoyed traveling, playing a lively game of cards with her friends and grandchildren. She loved going to the movie theatre, reading mystery books, cooking amazing meals and notoriously opened all her gifts and packages as soon as they arrived in the mail.
Dortha worked at Trochta’s Flowers in Oklahoma City for over 35 years prior to her retirement. She was an extremely hard worker that took delight in delighting all of Trochta’s customers.
In 2007, she moved to Branson, Missouri where she volunteered at the nearby Bonniebrook Homestead. Her years of experience working for the flower shop were greatly appreciated as she used her ability to design the flower bouquets and decorations for special events. She was a bright spot in the gift shop as she interreacted with volunteers and customers. Her time spent at Bonniebrook gave her a renewed sense of purpose and joy. At the time of her passing, Dortha was on the Board of Directors of the Bonniebrook Historical Society and served as their Membership Chairperson.
