What is a Grandmother?

An example to a child that gives the strength to sustain.
Courage to overcome the challenges that life throws our way.
Humor from the past and the present to cheer us on.
Wisdom from many years of life experience to provide inspiration.
She sees a child through loving eyes and with a gentle heart.
She listens with attentive ears and an open mind.
She guards your secrets with all her might.
Whether by blood, adoption, marriage, or a close family friend;
The love that she gives is 100% unconditional.

She said life is made for you to live.
The best love is the love that you give.
Grandma told us every year, "when you are as tall as grandma you are grown; and can do what you want."

Grandma held our hands for a little while but holds our hearts forever.

I was so sorry to hear of Aunt Adelene's passing.  She was a special 'little' lady and will always be in my thoughts and prayers, as will the rest of the family.  Two things I will always remember about Aunt Adelene - watching her go down the stairs backwards from her apartment to Dale's living area and how she loved to talk.  She and my mother would talk for hours on end when she was alive.  I wish I could have talked with each of you more at the funeral, but please know that you are always in my thoughts even though we haven't kept in touch through the years.

My thoughts and prayers are with family. She was not my biological grandmother but I loved her as such and she loved us as such. We all love you Little Grandma and are truly blessed to have had you in our lives. May you rest in peace and walk with him today. Going to miss you Grandma Barton but we will always have you in our hearts.

A tribute to Dorothy "Little Granny" Barton
 Small in stature - big in heart
 Each of her family held their own special part.
 She greeted all with a friendly smile and conversation
 She was adament about her and God's relation.
 What a very special time for Heaven to depart,
 Beginning her eternal journey many years ago was the start.
 And now she is receiving her rewards and I am sure
 Those of us left behind for now will miss her zest for life so pure.
