Donald Schaffer passed away on Friday, February 28th at the age of 77 years old. He was born in Kansas, to Pauline and Charles Schaffer, on March 1, 1942. He lived in Kansas with his family until they all moved to Midwest City, OK.
As a boy, Don loved to play in the woods and creek just north of Tinker Air Force Base. He was always full of fun and loved to pull good-natured pranks. Don would do something to his sisters, and then run out the back door as his mom was chasing him. She never was able to catch him, and he got by with quite a bit.
Don went to technical school and worked in Heat/Air for many years. He became a Mechanical Inspector for the City of Oklahoma City, and worked there until his retirement.
Don was a man of integrity. He believed in doing a job right, playing by the rules, and being honest. He also had a great sense of humor and was always ready to respond with a one-liner and a big grin..
Don met the love of his life, his wife Inez, in 1976. They were blessed to have 44 years together. Don and Inez moved to assisted living in 2019, and were enjoying the new friends they met there.
Don was a very devoted husband. He also had a big heart, and treated Inez’ children, T.W. and Evelyn, as his own. He was especially proud of his grandson Terry, and was a wonderful grandfather to him.
Don was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Bonnie Nelson; and his niece Marcie Ruff. He is survived by his wife Inez Schaffer; a son Terry Boutwell and wife Cynthia, of Oklahoma City; a daughter Evelyn Thomas and husband Tommy, of Midwest City, OK; a grandson Terry Boutwell, of Oklahoma City; a sister Barbara Nelson of Midwest City, OK; and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
