Our wonderful and loving mother, sister, grandmother, aunt and friend, Dixie Lee Davies, flew with the angels to be with our Heavenly Father on December 27, 2010. Dixie was born to Edward Powell and Helen Jackson Lee on January 9, 1928. Dixie’s childhood was filled with love and joy. Her father and mother were full of the spirit and served the Lord through song, music, laughter and love. Dixie married Thomas Davies, Jr. the love of her life on December 30, 1948. The ceremony was officiated by Dixie’s father, who was a Baptist minister. Dixie was given away by her brother Jack Lee. Dixie and Thomas passed along the joyful love they shared to their three sons, Powell Davies, Steve Davies and Tom Davies. Dixie was a woman of powerful faith and a devoted mother. She made many lifelong friends and later in life spent many happy hours with the Lively Ladies club she formed. She is preceded in death by her parents Edward Powell Lee and Helen Jackson Lee, her brother Powell Lee Jr. and her husband Thomas J. Davies, Jr. She is survived by her three sons, Powell and his wife Cheryl Davies, Steve Davies and Tom and his wife Shannon Davies; her brother Jack Lee and his wife Sarah Lee; and six grandchildren Alex Davies, T.J. Davies, Georgia Davies, Joshua Davies, Joseph Davies and Jonathan Davies. Dixie’s family is grateful for her life and example but most importantly that she is with our Lord.
