Dennis Robert Friesenhahn

“Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your Lord.” – Matthew 25:23

Dennis graduated from high school in 1955 and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as an E4 Artillery Specialist. Though Texas was his home during his early years, his military service eventually led him to Ft. Sill, Oklahoma in 1962. After Ft. Sill, Dennis moved to the Oklahoma City area, which became his life-long home and built a life full of family, hard work, and deep faith.

Family was the center of Dennis’s world. He lovingly raised his children Fayee, Bryan, and Bruce, and later his grandson Robert Friesenhahn as his own son. His 20-year marriage to the love of his life, Reba, was filled with cherished memories and enduring devotion.

Professionally, Dennis dedicated 35 years to Oklahoma Graphics and continued contributing his skills at Oklahoma Publishing for another decade after retiring. Beyond work, his faith played a significant role in his life. He was a devoted media church member of Family Life Center in Baton Rouge, LA for over 30 years.

Dennis found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved country music throughout his life, especially Hank Williams growing up. As his faith deepened and his relationship with Jesus Christ grew, he gravitated more towards gospel music, particularly the songs of Jimmy Swaggart Ministries. His favorite color was brown, a reflection of his down-to-earth and humble spirit. He was also a fan of Blue due to his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys. Game days were sacred in the Friesenhahn home, with Dennis proudly cheering on the Dallas Cowboys — win or lose. His passion for the team became an instilled tradition in his grandchildren that continues to this day!

Dennis’s happiest moments were when the family gathered around the table for a meal, shared stories, and played games like chicken foot. He made every holiday a celebration of love and togetherness. A perfect day for Dennis would be one spent surrounded by loved ones playing pool or working outdoors on his favorite truck, 1955 Big Rear Window Chevy pickups, although he loved any mechanic challenge. His cats, Crystal and Blackie, never failed to bring a smile to his face.

Dennis taught those around him the importance of hard work, honesty, deep faith, and unconditional love. He will be remembered as someone you could always count on — a steadfast, loving presence whose greatest joy was his family.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Reba Lee Friesenhahn; his sister Annette Stary; his son Bruce Friesenhahn; stepchildren Reed Coldiron and Carl Coldiron; and grandchild Janelle Fowler.

Dennis’s legacy lives on through his daughter Fayee Friesenhahn Songer (Vernon Songer) of Whitney, TX; son Bryan Friesenhahn of Whitney, TX; sisters Kathy Mercer of Corpus Christi, TX; Janice Knowis of Houston, TX; and Pat Sandera of Houston, TX. He leaves behind eight grandchildren, Jesse Songer, Dennis Songer, Robert Friesenhahn, Kimmie Handy, Bryan Friesenhahn, Amanda Friesenhahn, and Vernon Jr. Songer, twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. His memory will also live on through his loyal cats, Crystal and Blackie, and the family dog, Sam, who will forever hold a special place in their hearts.

His life was a testament to love, strength, and unwavering faith. Dennis will be deeply missed but the character and life lessons he instilled into his family will never be forgotten. Though his hands are now at rest, the values Dennis instilled — hard work, a giving spirit, enduring faith, and unconditional love — will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
