He was born on Sept., 14, 1921 to Dennis Harrison and Allie Mae Dilday in Holdenville, OK. He graduated from Holdenville high school in 1939 and attended Oklahoma University, at which time he was drafted into the US Air Force and served for four years.
While in the service he met and married the love of his life, Elsie Pearl McCrain, to whom they shared 62 years of marriage. Elsie passed away Jan., 20, 2005 at which time she and Dennis lived in the Village for 54 years.
Dennis was predeceased by his wife, parents and brother, Neal. Dennis was retired from the FAA with 38 years of service. He and Elsie loved gardening, fishing, and traveling throughout the U.S. Dennis especially enjoyed painting and he and Elsie were both members of the OK City Painters Club. Also, he and Elsie were great supporters of the OU Sooners.
Dennis was a member of Village Christian Church where he served as a deacon and was honored with Deacon Emeritus. He was also a faithful member of Promise Keepers.
Dennis is survived by nieces, Karen Anderson, Judy Wood and Ann Zachary all living in California and Frances Ramsey and nephew Beryl Smith of OKC, also great niece Sherri Smith of OKC, and dear friends Linus and Carolyn Affolder, who were his care taker for the past
six years.
The family would like to thank St. Ann’s Nursing Home for the great care they had for Dennis for the past one year and a half.
Services will be graveside at Rose Hill Burial Park, 63rd and Penn., Oklahoma City on Tuesday, Feb. 8 at 2 p.m.
Visitation will be Monday, February 7, 2011 from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
