

Debra Jane Askins, 74, aka “mom”, “grandma”, “fierce shopper”, “chocolate lover”, “grandchild spoiler”, “animal lover”, and “diehard OU and Thunder fan”, would like you to know her battle here is over. The lord called her home Thursday, May 26, 2016 at 11:36 AM while surrounded by her family. She is currently reuniting with her parents, Al and Sybil Ayers, other family and friends and many beloved pets that she hasn’t seen in a long time. Debra was born April 10, 1942 in Seminole, OK. She is a former Lancer Princess from the class of 1960 at Northwest Classen High School. From there she attended Central State College. She is survived by her adoring husband, James; daughters Lori Walker (Brian), and Jami West; 4 grandchildren-Thomas and Tobey walker, Georgia and Canon West; Her sisters Gene Ayers and Yvonne Albers (Denny), along with many other beloved extended family members. The family especially thanks Dr. Aleda Toma of Cancer Specialists of OKC and Care Plus Home Health Care of OKC for providing her favorite care giver, Dorcas “D” Owens, who was such a blessing and took such good care of her during her illness. A celebration of Debra’s life will be held at 11am Tuesday, May 31st, at Cornerstone Methodist Church, 2604 N. May Ave, OKC. In Lieu of flowers, donations to the Humane Society are appreciated.
