David Wayne Rucker passed away May 18, 2018. He was born May 2, 1945 to Lee and Gladys Rucker in Oklahoma City. He graduated from NW Classen High School in 1963. He attended Oklahoma City University to study music and journalism and graduated with his Bachelor’s degree in 1969. He worked in radio broadcasting as a newscaster for WKY and produced commercials for Clear Channel Communications. He also worked for Tyler Media and Westwood One.
David loved music and attended the OKC Philharmonic whenever he could. He was an avid singer and a member of the Canterbury Choral Society for several years. He also enjoyed singing in local churches and directing the choir at Linwood United Methodist. Another favorite pastime was fishing. David was happily married to Deborah Rucker for 41 years, and they devoted their time to their family.
David was preceded in death by his parents Lee and Gladys and his brother, Harold.
He is survived by his wife, Deborah Rucker, his children, Heather (Keith Smith), Aaron (Rosella Rucker), Deanna (James Wasson), and grandchildren Dillon Rucker and Quinn Wasson.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 24, 2018 from 10AM - 8PM at Guardian West Funeral Home in OKC with the family available to greet friends from 6-8PM. To celebrate his life, all are welcome to attend a graveside service on Friday, May 25, 2018 at 10:30AM at the Moore City Cemetery in Moore, OK.
