Claudia Mae Hiner was born on July 28, 1928 in OKC to Claud and Lillie (Easlon) Hiner. She attended OKC Public Schools and graduated from Capitol Hill High School with the Class of 1946. In Feb 1956 she married the love of her life, Bud Rogers and together they raised four wonderful children. The family relocated to KS in 1973 and later spent several years living in Houston before settling for good in OKC in 1989. Claudia worked as a pharmacy secretary at Southwest Medical Center until retiring in 1995. Bud passed away on June 2, 1999 and Claudia remained fiercely independent until 2017 when she moved Kansas to be near her daughter Michelle.
Claudia was an ornery and generous woman who loved to help people. She was a longtime member of Mayridge Baptist Church where she was a member of the women’s group. She also volunteered to work in their Christmas store and for other ministries helping unwed mothers. She was a wonderful cook and she canned her own jams and jellies. Claudia was a talented seamstress and cross-stitcher, often making clothing, denim quilts, and Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls for her family and friends. Claudia touched many lives and she will truly be missed by all who knew her.
Claudia was preceded in death by her parents Claud and Lillie Hiner; husband of 43 years Bud Rogers; siblings John Clifford Hiner and Marlene Miller; a son-in-law David Owens; and granddaughter Courtney Owens Bond. She is survived by her four children: Shirley Owens, Becky Shultz and husband Terry, Kurt Rogers and wife Vickie, and Michelle Raaf and husband Tony. Grandchildren: Jennifer Owens Hill and husband Victor, Bryan Shultz, Kimberly Shultz and husband Landon Schurtz, Nicole Rogers Cordova and husband Todd, Derek Rogers, Brandon Kathrens and wife Breanna, Tyler Raaf and wife Tonya, and Blake Raaf, and eleven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous, nieces, nephews, and other beloved family members.
