Chester E. Carter, 98, passed away on Sunday, January 22, 2012 at his home in Harrah, OK. He was born April 22, 1913 in Bucklin, Kansas to Milton Harvey and Della Mae (Covington) Carter. Chester was a member of the Church of the First Born. He was a man of many talents with a great sense of humor. His many jobs included working on a ranch in Kansas, an aircraft armament mechanic foreman at Tinker AFB, a homebuilder, and retired as a diesel mechanic. His hobbies and many talents included, songwriting, writing poetry, writing a book “Odds-n-Ends” and he was a musician playing the fiddle and harmonica. He is preceded in death by his wife, Alma; one sister, Jewell Whitman; four brothers: John, Raymond, Jake Carter and Charles Wilson, Jr. Survivors include two daughters: Barbara Mayes and husband Eldon of Harrah, OK and Alta Christopher of Frisco, TX; four grandchildren: Mark Mayes, Linda Hoffman, Karin Quinn and husband Sean and Cynthia Christopher; great-grandchildren: Christopher, Henry, Libby, Liam, Conor, Stephanie, Jessica, Destiny, and Braxton; one brother: Clarence Carter of Midwest City and many other family members and friends. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 26, 2012 at Bill Eisenhour Northeast Chapel at 11:00 a.m. with burial to follow at Arlington Memory Gardens in Midwest City, OK.
