Charles “Charlie” Daniel Wilkinson passed away on February 12, 2020. Charlie was born February 13, 1941 in Mountain Park, OK and later moved to Midwest City where he married and resided. Charlie is survived by his wife of 61 years, Jennive Wilkinson; daughter and son-in-law, Yvonne and Cliff Minter; two grandsons, Jason Minter and Greg Minter; and two great grandkids, Chastity and Tatum Minter.
Charlie was self-employed and retired after many years of building homes. He was very detail oriented. His motto was, “Don’t throw it away, it can be fixed.” He loved flying airplanes, both radio and passenger planes, and also loved going to airshows. He spent many hours at the grandkids’ sporting events when they were young. Both he and Jennive were OU and Thunder fans and would plan their evenings around the ball games on TV.
In his early years he raced go-carts, played golf, drove full sized and radio controlled boats, and also loved to water ski and fish. In his later years Jennive and Charlie would play puzzle games on the internet and in books. People would spend hours listening to his childhood stories. He loved his dogs and often worked in his yard and self-built fish ponds. He enjoyed comparing his garden and flowers to his daughter Yvonne’s garden.
With his birthday approaching, Yvonne rallied with friends and family to get him 79 tulips for his 79th birthday. We received 132 tulips, but sadly as it happened, he never got to enjoy them. We lost a good guy when we lost Charlie.
