Charles Edward Trochta passed away Nov. 18, 2018. Charles served in the army during the Korean War. He and his brother, Ernest, were co-owners of Trochta’s Flowers & Greenhouses which was founded in 1946 by their father, Joseph Trochta. Many believed Charles grew the best chrysanthemums and poinsettias in the state. People from around the country visited the florist to praise and admire the flowers grown by Charles.
Charles was an avid golfer and fisherman. After the florist was sold in 1981, he pursued these hobbies and continued to win many golf tournaments just as he had done in high school. He also developed a passion for horse racing. Charles owned many racehorses, enjoyed watching them run, and especially liked displaying their winning trophies.
Charles is survived by his wife of 61 years, Shirley and his son Bruce, daughter Sherry, as well siblings Olga, Robert, Ernest plus many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and friends. We will forever miss his humor, kindness, and generosity.
