Chuck departed from this life after battling courageously with MRSA for five years. He was born in Ardmore, OK, son of Charles and Naomi Payne. He has always lived in OK and graduated high school in 1949 at Putnam City HS. Before graduating OU School of Law in 1956, he was an officer in the Air Force during the Korean War.
He was predeceased by his parents and sister, Hallie Ruth Denny. Chuck leaves behind his wife, Merry; his daughter, Sandra Huggins and husband Claude and his son David Payne, also four step children, Glady Rowan, husband John, Kelly Dommel, husband Volker, Laura Gaines and Gary Schneider, wife Vicki plus numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Chuck and his silver hair were well known for the many decades he practiced law. Also known was his love for tennis, swing dancing and his beloved OU Sooners. Little known was his beautiful tenor voice.
Chuck was a man who made the everyday seem a little less ordinary; a man who made a mark on this world and whose love of life will always be remembered. He will be missed so much.
Services to be held at Messiah Lutheran Aug. 28th at 2 pm. followed by interment at Rose Hill. The Payne family request all memorials to be sent to the Messiah School Fund.
