Charles Eddie Barnes, 66, of OKC passed from this life on December 10, 2019. Services have been entrusted to the care of Advantage Funeral & Cremation and a service celebrating his life will take place at 2pm on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at the funeral home chapel located at 7720 S. Penn in OKC.
Charles was born on December 23, 1952 in OKC to John and Willie Mae (Russell) Barnes. He graduated from Capitol Hill High School and attended OSU on a football scholarship. In 1971 he married Beverly Johnson and had two children: Shelly and Travis Barnes. In 1979 he married Karen Wyont and had a son, Justin Barnes.
Charlie was a Farmers Insurance Agent in OKC for close to 20 years before selling his agency to manage and own an interest in several clubs. He managed the 747 club, the Gemini, the Zimmer, and the Silver Stallion in Mustang, OK. Charlie sold his interest in the club and retired in the late 1990’s.
Charles was an outgoing guy who was always the life of any party. He was better known to his friends as “Goodtime Charlie.” He was a talented cook who specialized in beanie weenies and fried bologna. He enjoyed camping, boating and hunting and he was a gifted photographer and artist. Charlie brought a lot of smiles and laughs to those around him and his quick wit and great sense of humor will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents John and Willie Mae Barnes and his closest cousin Ted Russell. Charlie is survived by his three children: Shelly Yandell and husband Scott, Travis Barnes and wife Brandy, and Justin Barnes and wife Tracy; Two siblings: James Barnes and Theresa Seiden and husband Jim. Six grandchildren: Scotty, Aubrey, and Lily Yandell, Jacob, Jackson, and Joshua Barnes; four great grandchildren: Kobie Yandell, Liliana McAnulla, and Scarlet and Leo Barnes. He is also survived by numerous other beloved family members and friends.
