Cecil Pirrong was born on September 16, 1928 to Clarence Jr. and Olivia Pirrong in Harrah, Ok. He went to his eternal home on July 28, 2017. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Roger Sr. Cecil graduated from Classen High School in 1947 and Oklahoma City University in 1950 with a degree in Mathematics. Cecil taught math at Newcastle Junior High and Webster Junior High (OKC). In 1952, he went to work for the Oklahoma State Department of Health. During a 35 year career at OSDH, he served as Personnel Director and Chief of Central Services retiring in 1987. After being retired for a month, Cecil turned a lifelong hobby into a second career, opening Pirrong Autos. He loved buying and selling classic cars and cars in general. He was a regular fixture at the Dealers Auto Auction in Oklahoma City as well as the James Leake Auctions. He sold his last car at the Leake Auction in Oklahoma City this past February. Cecil loved Oklahoma City University and served on the alumni board including a term as President of the Alumni Association. He was a lifelong Chiefs/Stars fan, rarely missing a home basketball game in the past 70 years and traveled to many away games as far away as Jackson, Tennessee. The only thing he enjoyed more than cheering for OCU, was cheering for his grandchildren. He grew up in the Oklahoma City First Church of the Nazarene and joined St. Luke’s UMC later in life reuniting with friends and classmates from Classen and OCU. He is survived by three children Cecilia Sue Housman and husband Jerry of Miami, OK; Cary Pirrong and wife Randa of Oklahoma City; and Christina Holland and husband Jay of Mustang, OK. He is also survived by seven grandchildren Rachel Thomason, Sara Housman, Rebecca Housman, Miranda Kyle and husband Shannon, Carter Holland, Case Pirrong and Reese Pirrong. The family would like to express our special thanks to Becky Lovelace and Mercy Hospice for their tireless care over the past months. Funeral Services are 2 pm, Tuesday, August 1 at St. Luke's UMC, 222 NW 15th, OKC. Visitation will be Monday, July 31, 6 pm - 7 pm at Hahn-Cook/Street & Draper. In lieu of flowers, it was Cecil's wish that donations be made to Oklahoma City University.
