Carolyn was born in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Buster and Opal Whisenhunt on May 31, 1947. She was an only child. Carolyn graduated from Muldrow High School in 1965 and moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma where she attended the University of Tulsa.
Carolyn’s faith was foremost in her life. She was devoted to Christ and knew one day she would reunite with her loved ones in heaven.
Carolyn is survived by her husband of 35 years Everett E. Cox, her son Roy Baker IV, four daughters Tracy Boyce Keenan (Sean), Kimberly Boyce Roberts (Mike), Marla Cox Howeth (Ken), and Trudi Cox Hicks; grandchildren Roy Baker V “Buddy”, Jessica Baker, Julia McLoughlin (Zak), Lindsey Roberts, Jessica Thionnet (David), Chad Bennett (Courtney), Calley Findley (Miles), Katy Holloway (Zack), Sam and Boone Howeth, Kelsey Hicks Kitson, Madison and Taylor Hicks; great-grandchildren Grace, Ben, Fisher, Lucy, Ellie, Scout Lily, and Liam Michael.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Buster and Opal Whisenhunt.
It would be an understatement to say that Carolyn was the Oklahoma Sooners Number #1 Fan! She was an avid lover of sports. On many days a week, she could be found watching old football games while waiting for her favorite teams to play on Saturday and Sunday.
Carolyn loved caring for her pets Rufus and Bentley. For years, she dreamed of having a Yorkshire terrier and her dream came true when she got Bentley last year.
She loved to travel and got to do many fun things in her life. She learned to ski in Breckenridge, Colorado and spent a lot of time traveling throughout the State of Colorado. She fell in love with Mexico after honeymooning with Everett. She loved going to Oklahoma lakes, casting a line and waiting for the big one to hit. A favorite family photo is Carolyn holding up a huge catfish that she caught fishing with Everett in Waynoka, Oklahoma. She also loved to fly! She flew in everything from seaplanes, aerobatic biplanes to her final flight in a medical helicopter to Baylor Scott & White Hospital, Dallas, Texas, which brought her such joy in the last week of her life.
Carolyn Cox will be missed. A graveside service will be held for family and close friends.
