Carey Roland Phillips passed away at age 74 at his home with his family by his side. He was born in Pine Bluff, Arkansas to Thomas Drayton and Lavina Crossett Phillips. Carey graduated from Watson Chapel High School in Jefferson County. He served in the United States Army and was honorably discharged in 1962. He met his wife and sweetheart, Margaret Phillips while stationed at Fort Lewis in Washington State. On December 8th they would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. Carey is preceded by his brother Herbert Phillips. He is survived by his brother Bobby Phillips and his sister Eunice Edwards. He is also survived by his loving wife Margaret and four children, Susie, Beverly, Carolyn and Richard and eight grandchildren, Laura, Rachael, Emily, Lisa, Sam, Abbey, Paris, and Anna.
Carey Phillips has been a fixture of the Oklahoma City community since bringing his family to Oklahoma in 1962. He worked hard every day to provide for his family as well as always helping his fellow man. Those who knew him loved and respected him deeply. Carey will be greatly missed by his family and friends but the memories will remain in our hearts. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 3rd at 10 AM at the Guardian West Chapel, 5820 Northwest 41st Street, Warr Acres, Oklahoma.
