Brenda June Smith was born April 3, 1945 in Prairie Grove, Arkansas to Bill Dale and Geraldine Virginia (Cox) Hankins. Brenda was the oldest of 4 girls. She was a proud member of the United States Air Force Reserves. After 30 years of working for the Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner, she retired and was able to spend more time with her beloved family. She enjoyed being outside whether it was flower gardening, traveling with her husband J.B., or attending her grandchildren’s sporting events. Some of the memorable places she and J.B. traveled were Key West, Florida, North Carolina, Dollywood, and Colorado. Brenda was known for her cooking and one of the special dishes she made was chicken enchiladas.
Brenda was preceded in death by her parents; son, John Rule; sister, Carla McKiddy; and, great-granddaughter, Leia Grace Wamback. She is survived by her husband, Jerry B. Smith; son, Brad Rule and wife Debbie of Choctaw, OK; daughter, Jeri Lynn Perkovich and husband Robert of Oceanside, CA; grandsons, Jake, Zachary, and James; granddaughters, Brittany, Lauren, Maddie, and Jordan; great-grandson, Parker; great-granddaughter, Arya; sisters, Kathy Stegall and Sandi McDaniel; and numerous other friends and family members who will miss her dearly. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 14, 2018, at Bill Eisenhour Southeast Chapel with inurnment to follow at Sunny Lane Cemetery in Del City, OK.
