Brenda Clopton was born December 7, 1940 in Newton, North Carolina. She passed away peacefully on November 22, 2022 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She went home to heaven and was greeted with the words, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant!”
She was an only child and grew up in Winston Salem, North Carolina, where she was raised by her mother, Mary Cooke, and her grandmother, Ada Hoover.
Brenda was, first and foremost, an incredible mom to four wonderful children. She taught them to always look out for the interests of others, to be unselfish, to find the joy in every situation and to be giving and kind. As a waitress until she was 72, she showed them the value of hard work and the importance of having a servant’s heart and treating everyone with respect.
The thing she loved most was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and nothing brought her more joy than spending time with them and talking with them. She was their greatest cheerleader and taught each of them to be strong and courageous, to believe they could accomplish anything and to never give up on their dreams.
She loved to travel with her children. New York, Vegas, the beach and Albuquerque were among her favorite places to visit. She was always ready for the next adventure but also found great joy in everyday life through watching the Dodgers, baking, doing puzzles and discussing the latest reality TV drama and competition series with her granddaughters.
She was an extraordinarily resilient woman. She endured hardships and trials throughout her lifetime. At the age of 78, it was discovered that she had persevered through multiple life-threatening issues. Over the last year, she lost most of her hearing and eyesight, and had her leg amputated. Through it all, she never complained; instead she thanked God that He left her with some hearing, some vision and another leg. She was a fighter - determined to accomplish the impossible and was tough as nails.
Brenda loved Jesus. She loved reading the Bible and listening to worship music and sermons. She saw God in everything and shared her testimony freely. She wanted others to know He loves them and sent His Son so they could have everlasting life. He was her hope and exceeding great joy.
Brenda leaves behind her four children, sixteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren who adored her and were abundantly blessed to have experienced life with her.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, November 28th at 6:30 pm at Hahn-Cook Funeral Home 6600 Broadway Extension, Oklahoma City, OK 73116.
