Bob Brooks died peacefully February 14, 2011 with his wife, Mary, by his side holding his hand while his daughter-in-law, Deanne Brooks, spoke words of encouragement. He bravely fought a 10 year battle with both prostate and colon cancer. He was born in Oklahoma City on November 27, 1929 the second of three sons to Frances and Esther Brooks.
Bob was one of the first foreign car mechanics in the Oklahoma City area in the 1950’s and parlayed his skills into starting his own business, Bob Brooks Motor Company from 1963 to 1972. Afterwards, in 1973, he began Precision Parts and Remanufacturing with his wife, Mary and two of his sons, Dan and Mark. He was well loved by business associates and employees alike. Bob was known for insisting on the very best quality of workmanship to service his customers. He appreciated all of his loyal employees and considered them family as well.
The most important part of Bob’s life was his family. Nothing gave him more pleasure that to watch sporting activities played either by his children, grandchildren or great-grandchildren. He and his wife sponsored their grandchildren’s teams, attended baseball, basketball or football games, and watched his granddaughters in dance recitals. Anything that his family was involved in, Bob was there with his support. He was always up for telling bedtime stories, explaining how to fix things or being the taste tester for his granddaughters cooking adventures.
Although Bob was a quiet man, but spoke volumes with his actions. He was hardworking, trustworthy and had an excellent eye for the finest detail. He enjoyed watching it rain with his beloved dog, Tippy by his side or to view the beautiful sunset from the back porch in his Piedmont home. Bob was a western enthusiast, no matter if it was art, books, or movies. John Wayne was a favorite by far.
Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Frances and Esther Brooks, younger brother Donnie Brooks, and son, Mark Brooks. He is survived by his wife of almost 54 years, Mary Brooks of Piedmont, along with his oldest son, Dan Brooks and his wife, Lynda Brooks of Oklahoma City, his daughter-in-law, Deanne Brooks of Edmond, wife of the late, Mark Brooks. Also, his youngest son, Father Bryan Brooks of Muskogee and daughter, Karen Eisenhower with her husband, Cliff Eisenhower of Mansfield, TX. In addition, his grandchildren, Christie Brooks McElroy of Yukon, Ryan Brooks of Edmond, Kyle Brooks of Edmond, Katie Eisenhower and Carly Eisenhower of Mansfield, TX. along with his great grandchildren, J.T. McElroy and Jordyn McElroy of Yukon.
