Billie was Born, Billie Jean Gillespie, in Ysleta, Texas on December 22, 1920, to Dorothy and William Gillespie. She grew up in El Paso, Texas graduating from Sam Houston High School in 1938. In her latter high school years she met Frank W. Marshall and had a few dates with him. After graduation they ran into each other again, courted, and married on August 20, 1940. Billie worked at the phone company and Frank worked at El Paso Electric Co.
Although, interrupted by Frank’s service in World War II, they remained in El Paso through the birth of their son, Wayne Allen in 1947 and the birth of their daughter, Patricia Ann in 1949.
In 1951 the family relocated to OKC, residing in the Village. During the years of rearing their family they were active members in the Village United Methodist Church. Billie was a remarkable stay at home mother, dedicated to every aspect of her family and children. As empty nesters they relocated to Tulsa where Frank won a franchise for Snelling and Snelling Personnel Co. They opened and ran that office until their retirement. During those years Billie was the office manager and accountant.
They lived in Tulsa for 35 years and were active members of Asbury United Methodist Church. In 2003, they lost their son to the long term effects of Type I Diabetes. They relocated back to OKC in 2008 to be near their daughter. Frank went to be with the Lord in 2012. Billie has been in and out of nursing home care since 2013.
Billie leaves behind her daughter, Patricia Marshall Reeves of OKC; a daughter in law, Bertha Marshall of San Antonio; 5 grandchildren and beloved spouses, Jennifer, Jason, Chris, Lisa, and Kerry; and 10 great-grandchildren, Sophia, Ava Claire, Finley, Jacine, Jarrett, Jordan, Merritt, Victoria, Molly, and Lauren.
