Barbara Matlock

Barbara Jo Matlock, died suddenly at her home on December 4, 2011. She was born October 11, 1936 to Howard and Ruth Cain in Oklahoma City. She was the older and loving sister to a family of 5 girls. Barbara is survived by her Mother, Ruth Cain Ross, her sisters and brothers-in-law, Beverly and Tim Reardon, Billie and Dale Everett and Brenda and Jack Lee. She was preceded in death by her husband Beryl Matlock, her father, Howard Cain and sister and brother-in-law Betty and Bob Buck. She was a nurturing Aunt to two generations of nieces and nephews. From reading to her sisters at an early age she developed a love of literature. After receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in Education she taught English and Great Books in the Putnam City School system for many years. Her caring, compassionate persona was reflected in volunteer work with Heart Line, Hospice and Stephen Ministry. Barbara will be missed as a daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Viewing will be held Friday from 8:AM to 8:PM. A Memorial Service will be held at New Covenant Christian Church, 12000 N. Rockwell, Saturday, December 10, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Rebuilding Together OKC, 730 W. Wilshire ste. 108, or BritVil Community Food Pantry, 8717 N. Western Ave.
