Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, teacher and friend went to be with our Lord on July 15, 2017. She was preceded in death by her loving husband Robert and parents Gilbert and Anna Braun. Barbara grew up in Oklahoma City, attended Mount St. Mary High school, and graduated from Central State University at the tender age of 20. She was a teacher, mostly kindergarten, for over 40 years at Sacred Heart School. During this time, she married Robert in 1966 and raised three children at home while loving and caring for many children, her parents, her in laws, and friends.
She is survived by her children: Rebecca Garner and her husband, Russell, Jeff Burrows, and Carrie Bowser and her husband Michael; five grandchildren, Dylan Garner, Jake Garner, Christian Bowser, Harley Bowser, and Nicholas Bowser; her sisters Patricia, Margaret and her husband Scott, and Nancy and brother, Charles and his wife, Sandra; brother in law Steve Burrows; and numerous nieces and nephews who affectionately called her Aunt Bobbie to this day.
Barbara was a kind and generous soul that loved her family, friends, and students without condition or expectation of anything in return. She was known for her heaven-sent bread and cinnamon rolls and always offering a meal to anyone that darkened her door. She never met a stranger and had a smile that lit up a room.
“Every person passing through this life will unknowingly leave something and take something away. Most of this “something” cannot be seen or heard or numbered or scientifically detected or counted. It’s what we leave in the minds of other people and what they leave in ours. Memory. The census doesn’t count it. Nothing counts without it.”
