Barbara L. Boggs Miller

Daughter of Willard and Alice Boggs, Barbara grew up in Oklahoma City attending Edgemere Elementary, Harding Junior High, and Central High School. She graduated from Oklahoma A&M College, now Oklahoma State University, and was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. It was during this time, Barbara was set up on a blind date to meet a sailor from Muskogee, Oklahoma, who turned out to be the love of her life, John D. Miller. They married August 23, 1954.

In addition to raising to two daughters, Barbara was instrumental in setting up the elementary school libraries for the Putnam City Schools and the Learning Tree Preschool at Grace United Methodist Church. She later worked as a representative for the American Greeting Card Corporation for over 20 years.

Barbara was the true definition of a dedicated volunteer in serving her church, Grace United Methodist, for more than 50 years. She touched the lives of many in service to the American Red Cross, Salvation Army, PCO Optimist Baseball, Special Olympics, and Rollingwood Neighborhood Association. She loved helping others and passed this trait onto other family members.

Barbara was proceeded in death by her husband, John, of 64 years, her parents and brother, Don Boggs. She is survived by her daughters, Patty Hurley and Kathy Smith and husband Kevin; three grandchildren, Bridget Sharp and spouse, Chevi, Brad Hurley, Brian Hurley and his wife, Alyshia; two great-grandchildren, Aiden Vanover and Chase Hurley; and sister-in-law, Margaret Boggs and three nephews Jim Boggs, Tom Boggs, and Robert Boggs.

Services will be held 10:00 am, Thursday, December 5th, at Grace United Methodist Church, 6316 N Tulsa in Oklahoma City. Burial to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army Angel Tree Program or the American Red Cross.
