Arrangements under the direAlfred (Al) H. Burgess went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, 11/17/2010. He was born 03/07/1932 in Seminole County, OK to Elvin and Verna (Bethany) Burgess. He graduated from Strother High School at the age of 16. He received both bachelors and masters degrees in Education from East Central College in Ada. He then went back to Strother Schools as teacher, coach, and principal. He also taught wood shop at Del Crest Jr. High in Del City. He was county Supt. of Schools in Seminole County from 1973-1981. At the time of his retirement, he was principal of Pleasant Grove School in Seminole. He was a part owner of the first Sonic on Sunnylane in Del City. He also was owner of Burgess Printing and Office Supply in Seminole. He was a member of Meadowood Baptist Church, Seminole Lions Club and OEA/ NEA. He married Mickey Jo Wylie in 1957 and she preceded him in death in 1990. Also preceding him in death were his parents and an infant brother, James. He married Betty Palmer in 1992 and is survived by his loving wife Betty; his 3 children: Dawn Sullivan and husband Jay of Atlanta, GA, Kirk and wife Tina Burgess of Bentonville, AR, and Brooke Burgess of Raleigh, N.C.; his sister, Velma Hamilton and family of Pauls Valley, OK; his grandchildren: Kylee Sullivan, Chase Sullivan, Blake Burgess and Baylee Burgess, also step-children: Shirley and John Coleman of Edmond, OK, Alan and Cathy Palmer and Bruce and Jessie Palmer and their families, all of Deltona, FL, who loved him like a father. He is also survived by 8 step-grandchildren and 2 step- great-granddaughters. He was a wonderful, loving, husband, father, and grandfather, who had many happy holidays and gatherings with his and Betty's families. Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 20, 2010 at Bill Eisenhour NE Chapel with interment at 1:00 p.m. at Maple Grove Cemetery, Seminole, OK.
