Agnes Modena “Dean” Weeks Johnson, 89, of Oklahoma City passed peacefully from life on Earth on January 26, 2013. Born on June 20, 1923, in rural Okolona, Arkansas, the sixth of eight children of Henry and Sarah Hughes Weeks. Determined to improve her lot in life, Dean took the bold step of going to Ft. Smith, Arkansas to attend a business college, and to Little Rock as a stenographer and typist. She married and settled in Oklahoma City during the 1950's, as a housewife and mother.
Dean was preceded in death by all of her brothers and sisters. She is survived by her two sons: Robert B. Johnson of Orange Park, Florida; and Frank M. Johnson of San Francisco, California. Dean is also survived by her three grandchildren: Lieutenant Commander Mark A. Johnson of Lihue, Hawaii; Daniel E. Johnson of New York City; Hillary Johnson Leverone of Orlando, Florida; and daughter-in-law, Audrey Weber of Orange Park, Florida.
Dean was a long-time active member of Mayfair Church of Christ. She was a fine craftswoman in needle arts, in crochet, quilting, needle-point and cross-stitch. Services will be held at the church located at 2340 N.W. 50th St., Oklahoma City at 11 a.m, Saturday, February 2, 2013. Visitation will be at Guardian Funeral Home, 5820 N.W. 41st St., Warr Acres from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, February 1, 2013, with family present from 5 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the Mobile Meals Ministry of St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 222 N.W. 15th St., Oklahoma City.
