Surviving is his wife Diane; three daughters Kelly Mahan & her husband Peter of Oswego NY, Kim Linkous & her husband Tom of Milford DE and Tracy Nieves & her husband Danny of Colorado; a son William Hickox & his wife Jennifer of Dover DE; step-daughter Vicki Lawton & her husband Justin of Albany; step son Michael Myers & his wife Michele of Amherst NY; his mother Betty J. Hickox of Syracuse; sisters Kathy Padgett & her husband Ted of Englewood FL, Lisa Robinson & her husband Rick of Michigan and Lynn Jacques & her husband William of Syracuse; a brother Gary Hickox of MO; along with several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews & cousins.
His father Harry M. Hickox Jr., predeceased him.
Bill was born on October 1, 1943 in Marshall, MO, a son of Harry & Betty Jo (Stanley) Hickox. He graduated from High School, and enlisted in the US Navy in 1961. He received his honorable discharge in 1964, and began his long career with General Motors in Syracuse, where he worked as a tool & die maker and machine repairman until 1994. He then became employed with Marcellus Casket Company in Syracuse as a machine repairman until his retirement in 1999.
Bill was a member of the UAW Local 854 Union and longtime member of the Bridgeport Volunteer Fire Department, where he was an EMT and underwater recovery team member.
He was an avid NY Yankee fan and enjoyed golfing, scuba diving, telling long stories, traveling, spending time on the St. Lawrence River and enjoying sunsets.
