Graveside services for William L. Dawley, age 86 of the Murphy Road in Lisbon, NY will be held 2:00pm Saturday (June 15, 2013) at White Church Cemetery with Kim Trivilino officiating. Mr. Dawley passed away on Thursday (June 13, 2013) at his home surrounded by his family.
Surviving are his sons & their spouses, Leon & Sharon Dawley, Richard & Mary Dawley, Douglas & Darlene Dawley all of Lisbon, Timothy & Anna Marie Dawley of Canton, Randy Dawley, Scott & Sheri Dawley both of Lisbon; three daughters Deborah & Kenneth VanBrocklin of Canton, Cindy Baxter & Brenda Gokey both of Lisbon; two brothers Earl Dawley, Vernon & Ella Dawley both of Lisbon; sisters Vivian Coons of Lisbon, Mary & Gordon Dickinson of Heuvelton and Phyllis Bice of Knoxville, TN; 24 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews & cousins. He was predeceased by his wife Helen in 1986; two brothers Robert & Kenneth Dawley and three sisters Ellen Martin, Jean Fields & June Kelley.
Bill was born on March 24, 1927 in Morrisburg, Ontario CANADA, a son of the late Leon & Carrie (Bulson) Dawley. He graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy and the George Hall Trade School. In 1945 he entered the US Army until 1946 when he received his honorable discharge. He then married Helen Beverly Winters on April 14, 1948 at the Town Line Church in Lisbon with Rev. William Nevin officiating the couple’s marriage. Bill was a life time farmer and worked as a laborer at Reynolds Aluminum for 27 years in addition to being a self employed milk hauler. He enjoyed attending car races in Evans Mills and LaFargeville, camping, farming and spending time with his family.
