Born and raised in West Stockholm, New York, Virginia was the daughter of Bernard and Mayfred (Rockwood) Austin, and one of eight beloved children. She is predeceased by sisters Helen (infant), Alice and Barbara and brothers Oliver and Kenneth. Virginia is survived by her two brothers and their wives, Paul and Joan Austin and Jack and Jane Austin, all from the Potsdam area.
Virginia's commitment to family was evident in her active involvement and support of her children's activities, such as Girl Scouts, marching band, music and sports activities. A graduate of Potsdam High School, Virginia married her childhood friend and neighbor, Robert Leon Morrow Jr., on March 3, 1962.
Virginia spent most of her life in Heuvelton, New York, where she helped raise four children: Roberta (Hank) Polniak of Ogdensburg, New York; Jamie (Dean) Phillips of Big Rock, Tennessee; Chip (Rachelle) Morrow of Blue Point, New York; and Jacquelyn Morrow of Heuvelton, New York. In addition to her husband and children, Virginia leaves behind eight grandchildren and their wives, Matthew (Kelsie), Justin (Noelle), Ryan (Sara), Dylan (Amanda) Polniak, Joshua (Wolf) (Emily) Phillips, Lydia Vaughan, Leighton Vaughan and Nicholas Morrow. Virginia has eight great-grandchildren, Claire, Jude, Aubrey, Charlotte, Lylah, Emmett, Madelyn and Jovie Polniak. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Virginia dedicated her professional life to Acco International in Ogdensburg, where she served as a secretary-receptionist, retiring in 1996 after 17 years of service. Beyond her work, Virginia found passion in sewing and quilting, playing bingo, reading Civil War history, enjoying Western movies, and frequenting the casino with her husband, Robert.
Virginia had a great love of the outdoors, and she cherished moments camping in the Adirondack Mountains. For many years, she and Robert owned a cabin in Santa Clara NY , a place filled with laughter and love that her grandchildren treasured.
At this time there are no services scheduled for Virginia Lydia Morrow. A celebration of life reception will be held in the Spring/Summer at the family’s convenience.
