A Funeral Mass for Thomas P. Murray age 57 of Ogdensburg, will be held at 11:00am on Monday (June 23, 2014) at Notre Dame Church with his brother Rev. Steven Murray & Rev. F. James Shurtleff concelebrating. His place of rest will be at Notre Dame Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 4-7pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home. Tom passed away at the Riverledge Healthcare Facility on Thursday (June 19, 2014) after a long heroic battle with cancer.
Surviving are his parents Donald & Eleanor Murray of Ogdensburg; three sons Timothy Amo of Ogdensburg, Brenden & Brogan Murray both of Rutland, VT; a daughter Kaylan Murray & her companion Angel Shannon of Rutland, VT; grandchildren Damon & Annalise Shannon of Rutland, VT & Fennway Amo of Ogdensburg; three brothers Rev. Steven Murray of Watertown, Frank Murray & his companion Gretchen McHugh of Ogdensburg, David Murray & his wife Patti of Ogdensburg; a sister Ann Johnson & her husband CJ of Ogdensburg; three nieces Stacy Johnson & her companion Chad Stemmler of Rochester, Morgan Murray of Geneva & Kelli Barr of Ogdensburg, along with several aunts, uncles & cousins.
Tom was born in Ogdensburg, NY the son of Donald & Eleanor (LaRock) Murray. He graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy and continued his education at Canton ATC. Tom was the fifth generation Murray to work for the Rutland Railroad in Ogdensburg, and later moved to Vermont where he became employed with Farrell’s Distributing and then Hubbardton Forge Lighting Company. In 2006 he relocated back to Ogdensburg to be closer to his family, and began working with his brothers at the Place Restaurant and later at Murray’s Old Irish Inn until his declining heath.
Tom was a member of the Ogdensburg Moose Lodge and Son's of the American Legion in Waddington. He enjoyed fishing, watching movies, spending time with his family, playing softball and could be considered an amateur comedian. Memorial contributions can be made to the Richard E.
