A graveside service for Sharon E. Farrell, age 75 of County Route 6 Hammond, will be held at 1:30pm on Friday (June 8, 2018) at the Pine Hill Cemetery with Rev. Walter Smith officiating. There will be visitation held prior at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home from 11:00am – 1:00pm.
Mrs. Farrell passed away on Tuesday (June 5, 2018) at the River Hospital in Alexandria Bay.
Surviving is her daughter Amy Jennings (Leslie MacMartin) of Ogdensburg; her longtime companion Jack Ouderkirk of Hammond; and a brother Lynn (Bev) Thompson of Heuvelton. She was predeceased by seven brothers Richard, James, Gary, Bruce, Bryan, Terry & Greg Thompson and a sister Sheila O’Neil.
Sharon was born on November 9, 1942 in Clare NY, a daughter of the late Leland & Freda (Van Brocklin) Thompson. She graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy and married John Jennings which later ended. She married Larry Farrell in 1975, he predeceased her. She again found love with Jack Ouderkirk, and the couple has spent the last 26 + years together.
During her career she was employed at Ryan’s Press, Truax Insurance, Perretta’s Packing and later at a nursing home in Florida. She was a member of the Ogdensburg Moose, Black Lake women’s pool and horseshoe leagues and Ogdensburg Women’s Bowling League. She enjoyed crossword puzzles, socializing with friends and was an avid NY Yankee and Syracuse Basketball & Football fan.
