Funeral Services for Rudolph “Rudy” J. Brothers Sr., age 67 of the Orebed Road in Colton, will be held on Monday (Oct 13, 2014) at 4:00pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Rev. Walter Smith officiating. Burial will be at a later date at the White Church Cemetery in Crary Mills.
Calling hours will be held also on Monday at the funeral home from 1:00pm until the time of the service. Mr. Brothers passed away at his home on Wednesday (Oct 8, 2014) surrounded by his loving family.
Surviving are his children Rudy Brothers Jr. & his wife Martha of S. Colton, Robert Brothers & his wife Martha of Canton and Richard Brothers of Winthrop; a daughter Robin Palm & her companion Roger Taylor of Parishville; two brothers Roy Brothers & his wife Colleen of Hermon and James Brothers & his wife Mary of Madrid; a sister Diane LaMay & her husband John of Ogdensburg along with 12 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews & cousins.
His former wife Donna, along with brothers Neil, Ernie & Billy, and a sister Cheryl Brothers predeceased him.
Rudy was born on October 21, 1946 in Massena, NY a son of the late Ernest & Ethel (Brown) Brothers. He attended Massena and Canton Schools for his education and later married Donna Sackett in 1964, which later ended in divorce. During his career he was employed as an orderly at the Columbia Hospital; owned & operated Rudy’s Body Shop until 1994; logged for a period, and later worked on a pipeline in KS & MO until 1998 when he retired. He enjoyed wheeling and dealing, fishing, hunting, working in the woods, spending time with his family and having breakfast at Ruby's Diner which was the high light of his dialysis days.
