Funeral services for Robert J. Terwilliger, age 79 of Water Street in Heuvelton, will be held on Tuesday (July 24, 2012) at 2:00pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Leroy Lewandowski officiating. Burial will follow the service at Hillcrest Cemetery in Heuvelton.
Calling hours will be held also on Tuesday from 12:00noon until the time of the service at the funeral home. Mr. Terwilliger died Friday (July 20, 2012) at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center surrounded by his family.
Surviving is his wife Emma Lou, two sons John & Mark and a daughter Lora Martin & her husband Craig all of Heuvelton; grandchildren Amber Martin and Katie Terwilliger of Heuvelton, Kristi Leaman & her husband Tim of Ellsworth Air Force Base in S. Dakota and Kari Terwilliger of Heuvelton; great-grandchildren Cole Rickett & Hailey Rickett of Heuvelton and Asher Leaman of S. Dakota.
His brother Arthur Terwilliger predeceased him in May of 2011.
Robert was born on July 5, 1933 in Penn Yan, NY a son of the late Basil & Ella (Greenway) Terwilliger. He graduated from Heuvelton High and continued his education at Canton ATI where he majored in Mechanical Engineering. He married Emma Lou Willard in May of 1955, and co-owned and operated the Riverside Veneer Company in Heuvelton with his brother Arthur for many years.
Bob was a pitcher on the Herman Town Baseball team in his younger years, and enjoyed going for rides, dining out, 4-wheeling, hunting and playing cards and checkers. He was a NY Yankee fan, and enjoyed his cats and dogs and spending time with his family.
Memorial contributions can be made to the St. Lawrence Valley SPCA, The Heuvelton Volunteer Fire Department or the Heuvelton Methodist Church.
