Funeral services for Rita C. Coleman, age 87 of Colton, Hannawa Falls & Potsdam, will be held on Tuesday (Mar 6, 2018) at 2:00pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Deacon Mark LaLonde officiating. Burial will be in the spring at the Pleasant Mound Cemetery in Colton in the spring.
Calling hours will be held also on Tuesday from 11:00am until the time of the funeral. Mrs. Coleman passed away on Thursday (Mar 1, 2018) at the Maplewood Nursing Home in Canton.
She is survived by her sister Shirley Trzaskos of Schenectady, NY and a brother Arthur “Joe” LeBlanc of Jonesboro, GA; step sisters Margie Love & Barbara Barr of Ogdensburg; along with several nieces, nephews & cousins. A brother Re’ne’ LeBlanc; two sisters Alice Warren and Annette Caskinet and step siblings Jackie Fredericks, Joyce Powers and Frances June predeceased her.
Rita was born on February 16, 1931 in Ogdensburg NY, a daughter of the late Philerum & Eva (LaFrance) LeBlanc. She graduated from Colton High School in 1949. She later married Charles Coleman in Madrid in 1950. During her career she worked as an inventory control operator for the Van Ness Co in Potsdam for 20 years.
Rita was a member of the Home Bureau @ Cornell University, former Colton-Pierrepoint Senior Racketeer and a member of the Re-treads Motor Cycle Club of the North Country. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, going on cruises, traveling and spending time with family. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, PO Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123.
