John D. Hyde

Funeral services for John D. Hyde, age 58 of Lisbon, will be held at 11:00am on Tuesday (December 6, 2023) at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Rev. Walter Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Hillcrest Cemetery in Heuvelton.

Calling hours will be held on Monday (Dec 4, 2023) from 3:00pm - 7:00pm and again on Tuesday morning from 10:00am until the service at 11:00am at the funeral home. Mr. Hyde passed away at the home of his niece Lisa on Wednesday (Nov 29, 2023) surrounded by his loving family.

Surviving are three brothers Wayne (Cathy) Hyde of Lisbon, Donnie Hyde of Ogdensburg and Gerald (Alberta) Hyde of Lisbon; seven sisters Carol Whitmarsh of Cortland, Beverly Parmeter of Lisbon, Susan Lawton of Ogdensburg, Dorothy (Neil) Connant of Potsdam, Debbie Stone of Pierrepoint, Shirley Montroy of Ogdensburg and Amy (Tom) Stearns of Louisville; and a special niece Lisa Lawton & her husband Pete Abar of Heuvelton; along with numerous other nieces, nephews & cousins.

John was predeceased by his son Jeffrey Hyde on November 6, 2019 and three siblings Edward Hyde, Nancy Morehouse and Cindy Hyde.

He was born on December 22, 1964 in Ogdensburg, a son of the late Edward & Olive (Flood) Hyde. He graduated from Lisbon High School in 1983.

John began his career working on the family farm and later became employed at Nates Auto Parts, White’s Junk Yard and CW Green as a truck driver. In 1990 he began his long employment for the Department of Corrections, working at Riverview Correctional Facility until his retirement in March of 2023 due to heath issues. He was a member of the Blue Fin Diving Team where he was an instructor, the Lisbon Volunteer Fire Department where he was a past commissioner, rescue diver and department member, a member of the Ogdensburg Moose Lodge and former member of the Elks Club. He enjoyed spending time on the river, diving, boat rides, hunting and all outdoor activities.
