Funeral services for John K. Burrows, age 66 of Mansion Avenue in Ogdensburg will be held 3:00pm on Tuesday (April 29, 2014) at St. John’s Episcopal Church with Rev. Michael O’Donnell officiating. Burial will follow the service with military honors at Ogdensburgh Cemetery.
Calling hours will be held also on Tuesday from 11:00-2:30pm at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home. Mr. Burrows passed away on Friday (April 25, 2014) at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Surviving is his wife Linda of Ogdensburg; a daughter Lisa Furgeson & her husband Steven of Topsham, ME; a son Christopher of Ogdensburg; three brothers Stephen Burrows & his wife Debbie of Rochester, David Burrows & his fiancee’ Cindy Williams of Tupper Lake, and Andrew Burrows of Ogdensburg; three grandchildren Joshua Furgeson, William Furgeson and Ariana Burrows.
John was born on September 26, 1947 in Ogdensburg NY a son of the late William K. & Kathleen (English) Burrows. He graduated from Ogdensburg Free Academy and later married Linda Ashley on August 24, 1968 at St. Mary’s Cathedral. John served his country in the US Army reserves from 1966 to 1994. He received many commendations and awards during his time of service and was affectionately known as "Radar" by his fellow service members. John
was employed at the St. Lawrence Psychiatric Center for 30+ years. He retired in 2003 as the transportation supervisor.
He enjoyed reading, camping, gardening, genealogy, playing card, taking care of others and spending time with his family.
