Funeral services for James A. Boland Sr. age 69 of Hammond, will be held on Thursday (January 3, 2013) at 10:00am at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home with Deacon Francis Bateman officiating. Burial will be in the spring at the Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Hammond.
Calling hours will be held Wednesday (January 2, 2013) from 2:00-6:00pm at the funeral home. Mr. Boland passed away early Monday morning at his home surrounded by his family.
Surviving is his wife Nancy; three sons James Boland Jr. of Bernards Bay, Robert Boland & his wife Ann of Hammond, Ronnie Boland & his wife Christine of Fulton; three daughters Dawn Cuthbert & her husband Andrew of Ogdensburg, Cindy Quesnel & her husband Ron of Fulton & Linda Clyde & her husband Wesley of Carthage; five brothers John Farmer & Tommy Boland of Hastings, Richard Boland & his wife Jean of W. Monroe, Charles Boland & his wife Carol of South Carolina and Bobby Boland of Rome; one sister Kathleen Howde of Clay, NY; eighteen grandchildren; three great-grandchildren along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews & cousins.
A son Francis L. Boland; three brothers Michael, Billy & Gary Lewis Boland and two sisters Mary Ann Sargeant & Patty Mae Smith predeceased him.
Jim was born on September 29, 1943 in Syracuse, NY a son of the late James M. & Florence (Farmer) Boland. He married Nancy Mariea on July 20, 1963 at the First Methodist Church in Syracuse. During his career he was employed at Muench Candle, Solvay Process, Carrier Corp and was a mechanic in Syracuse until relocating north where he was a wall paper hanger for a period and was a maintenance worker at Jacques Cartier and Eel Weir State Parks until his retirement in 2004.
