Funeral service for Jack W. Gray, age 66 of Lisbon will be held on Saturday (September 1, 2012) at 11:00am at the Lisbon Central School Auditorium with Pastors Douglas Ingersoll, Ron Payne, Norm Mesel & Jeff Bakos officiating. Burial will follow the service at Flackville Cemetery in Lisbon with military honors.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 6-8pm and Friday from 2-4 & 6-8 at the Fox & Murray Funeral Home. Jack passed away unexpectedly on Sunday (Aug 26, 2012).
Surviving Jack are his wife Suzanne; two sons Scott Gray & his wife Jennifer, Patrick Gray & his wife Ashley; a daughter Brandi Engle & her husband Rick all of Lisbon; a sister Linda Brouillette & her husband Paul of Ogdensburg, Kimberly Trivilino & her husband Joseph of Canton; two step-sisters Fern Wilson & her husband Steve of TN and Anita McIntyre & her husband Gary of Plumville, PA; six grandchildren Hunter, McKenna, Latener & Jack Gray, Laci & Kailyn Engle along with many special friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Rev. Bill & Helen Gray, step-mother Beatrice Gray and step-brother Lee Minick.
Jack was born on July 12, 1946 in Ogdensburg, NY the son of Rev. Harold William & Helen (Robinson) Gray. He graduated from Lisbon Central School in 1964 and entered the US Marine Corps during the Vietnam War from 1966 – 1969. On June 19, 1971 he married Suzanne M. Haney at the Lisbon Wesleyan Parsonage. Jack’s career as a gunsmith began at an early age, working hand in hand with his father at Gray’s Gun Shop, and later advancing into a partnership with his oldest Scott at the present time.
He was a member of the New York State and St. Lawrence County Trappers Association; a life member of the NRA, a member of the American Legion, an exempt member of the Lisbon Volunteer Fire Department, a certified trapper instructor, a nuisance control officer and in 2011 he received the TAUNY Lifetime Achievement Award.
He was an avid hunter, trapper, fisherman and sportsman and enjoyed playing tennis, basketball, running, biking, collecting antique cars and spending time with his family and many friends.
